Looking for Retirement Home! Deacon is a 10 year-old handsome fellow who is looking for a loving home and loving companions to live out his retirement years. He spent the first 10 years of his life with a wonderful partner who recently passed away. Don’t let Deacon’s age fool you; he is quite spry despite the fact he recently had three major surgeries, neutering, eye removal and tumor removal! His eye had to be removed due to some form of trauma that left him blind in that eye. He also had a couple of tumors that GGBR had removed – at least one old scar was found from one removed before. The vet did not feel the tumors were suspicious and Deacon was given a clean bill of health! All shots up to date! He could stand to put on a few pounds tho! By having the blind eye, Deacon’s sense of smell is incredible! His nose is always on the ground and his beautiful long ears dragging along stirring up all the scents & smells! He prefers slow strolls to quick walks where his nose can be working all the time! His spryness really shows up when he is ready to snuggle as he can jump up on beds and furniture without any problem! Deacon gets along with EVERYONE! Two and four legged, furry or hairy he is not particular! When he wants your attention, he lets you know with a big, beautiful deep bark. He prefers to sit and sleep very near his person and is a wonderful snuggler! He is a wonderful example of the Basset Hound breed, with the exception of being too skinny!
