Learn more about the Basset Hound. Gentle houndette just looking for a soft cushion of her own...
Betty Jo, renamed Peanut by her foster home, is a sweet and gentle little girl, (31 pounds at last vet appt.)
who prances cautiously around like a deer. She is timid upon meeting
new people, but has warmed up as she learns to trust those around her.
Once she trusts you she loves to be near you or keep you in her sight
all the time. She loves to be petted, sit on your lap and is just
learning to be comfortable with her tummy rubbed. Peanut seems to
prefer women over men and gets along well with dogs and older kids, but
does continue to scare easily around loud noises and sudden movements.
This has subsided some as she has settled into her foster home. Do not
know how she is around cats.
Peanut would probably do well with someone who could be home with her during the day or has another dog in the house so she would not get lonely. She sleeps well in her crate and is good on a leash as long as you are patient with her as she sniffs everything. She has been spayed, had her teeth cleaned and is working on housetraining.
