Learn more about the Basset Hound.
Stuart came to GGBR in February, he was emaciated weighing in at just 37 pounds, you could see all of his ribs and his hip bones were very prominent. With good food and a loving foster home he has put on nearly 20 pounds! He is now at a perfect weight.
Long and tall, with a sweet face, this gentleman is mild mannered
and even tempered. He is good with other dogs and with people. His
foster parents call him "Stuart Underfoot' because he likes to
participate in all that is going on around him. Stuart loves being
with his people but prefers lounging in his bed on the floor to being
on the furniture. Stuart has a good appetite and enjoys counter
surfing. He's also discovered the joys of playing with toys and will even entertain himself by tossing a tennis ball up in the air and chasing it around.
Thanks to his foster parents Stuart is now house trained! He does need a bit of extra encouragement during heavy rain.
Stuart is a gentle, adorable fellow who will make a great addition to
his lucky adoptive family and will fill their home with love and joy.
We have included a few of his before pictures so you can see just how far he's come.
More about StuartGood with Dogs Special Needs: Stuart has a slight heart murmur and possibly some old nerve damage in his neck. It doesn't cause him any trouble but he should be walked on a harness instead of a collar to avoid any unnecessary pressure to his neck. |
