Learn more about the Basset Hound.
Elvis is a charming 8 year old male who recently lost his home and family. He is great with people and other dogs. He is very obedient and follows you around with interest and curiosity in what you are doing. He plays great with our 16 month old female basset. He does seem a little protective if male strangers approach but after an introduction he mellows out and continues about his business. He can be a little territorial when laying in bed especially if he he’s laying next to someone else, a firm “NO” usually gets him to straighten up and relax. He isn’t too picky of an eater but slowly introducing him to his new food by including minced chicken or beef broth will help. Elvis enjoys nice walks and going on car rides. He is very obedient in the car and likes to hang his head out the window to catch some fresh air. He does need help in and out of the car. At first he may “whine” a lot but that subsides after a couple days of adjusting to his new surroundings. Since he is older he spends most of the day sleeping but don’t let this old man fool you, he still has some pep in his step. He is house trained and can handle being left at home for several hours without any accidents or problems. Elvis will be a great addition to your home and keep you smiling all day long
