Oh, my goodness, is this little guy ever cute!  He's a basset with a huge personality!  Take a look at the photo (below), that shows what Roy looked like when he was rescued from the shelter, only a few short months ago.  He was emaciated!  GGBR rescued him just in time. It's amazing what a little food and some good care can do!

Roy loves people and gets along very well with other dogs, but is good with dog-savvy cats, only. Don't be misled by the amount of gray hair; Roy may be no older than 6 and he's as active, spunky and playful as a 3-year-old!  His veterinarian guesses that the gray hair might even be the result of Roy's previous malnutrition!

Roy is vocal, expressive and has a darling way of cocking his head when you speak to him. For some reason, he seems to have a strong affinity for trucks and lawn tractors! (see photos).  Roy is recommended for adults only, as he is still in the process of learning his manners, and he takes treats roughly. He is not recommended for children. However, Roy is smart, and food motivated!  (See the videos of him telling his foster mom that it's time for dinner!)  He's been described as being a perfect "trainer's dog". Roy would be ideal for someone who wants to spend some time training him, and he would probably do very well in almost any form of training or dog sport from obedience or nosework, to agility or freestyle, since he is agile, as well.  Take a look at some of his moves in the videos to see some of the behaviors a person could put on cue!

If you enjoy training a very treat-motivated boy with a ton of personality, you may be just the person for this charming, adorable and resilient little guy!
