Sassy is a 6 year old gal surrendered after she and owner were negelted by a caregiver. Sassy ended up with a severe flea infestation that caused a horrible staff infection and her nails got so long they were starting to get imbedded into her pads which caused more infection. Sassy itched and chewed herself raw from the fleas. Since being loved and cared for she has a clean bill of health from the vet, she has an microchip chip, is heart worm negative and very healthy. She does have a very mild heart murmur that the vet was not to be concerned about. The infection and fleas are all cleared up, her hair has grown back and paws are healed. She is a long slung, deep chested Basset. A big beauty of a gal 60 lbs.
Sassy had been an only dog her whole life but in her foster home she is doing fine with other dogs and could care less about cats. Her former owners indicated she could be a little grabby with snacks but her foster home has not observed that behavior. She sits nicely for treats, comes when called. Did GREAT off leash at the river and on our cul de sac while another dog was playing fetch. She has not come upstairs yet; she sleeps on a blanket in the living room and has not been seen getting up on the furniture! She also uses the doggie door. She did great in the car as long as she could see out the window. She walks well on a leash.
She did fine around a four month old baby and teenagers but the prior owner's family did say she was snappy around food and their four year old. She did great with everyone at the vet's office. We will try to get her out and about more to see how she does with small children - -my guess is just fine! She is a very happy gal! She just wants to be loved and included in what her people are doing.
She is going to make a wonderful addition to a new family!
