Shasta is one of the Redding dogs, one of the 5 month old puppies rescued in January. Apply named Shasta as she had the most white on her back, like a snow capped mountain she is a beauty of a Basset with long ears and big feet! She will most likely get up to 45-50 pounds when fully gorwn. She is a lively puppy full of Basset energy and independence. While being fostered with two of the other 5 month old puppies, Shasta was the one to explore on her own and be very happy just playing with a toy by herself. Due to their prior living conditions, Shasta was not house broken when she arrived at her foster home, but she was the first of three to discover the doggie door to the backyard and is getting the hang of going potty outside.

On a recent visit to the dog park, Shasta again showed us her independent side, willingly checking out the other dogs and dog park with confidence and character! Shasta rides well in the car, preferring to ride on the passenger's lap to a crate but she is happy to sleep in a crate at night. Shasta was exposed to cats at her foster home; she did not seem to mind sharing her home with them knowing to keep a distance despite the squeaky noise they made when she got near them! Having been raised with so many other dogs, she gets along well with other dogs too!

Shasta walks well on a leash and is starting to learn her name when called. She loves people of all ages from little kids to big ones -- as long as they pet her and shower her with the attention she deserves!
