Learn more about the Basset Hound. Low-activity female companion just waiting to be loved on
Alice is a cute little red and white girl with a funny little tail that curls over her back. It's quite a conversation piece! She's estimated to be about 10 years old, but may definitely be a couple of years younger than that. She wowed the audience at UC Davis Picnic Day, hogging all the attention! Alice recently underwent surgery to remove a non-malignant tumor from her lower jaw. She has recovered well and has very little deficit resulting from the loss of that portion of her jaw, except that the tip of her tongue sticks out because of the loss of her lower canine teeth.
Alice is living in a foster home with three other dogs and four cats, and is proving to be a charming character! She gets along with other laid back dogs, but would probably prefer to be an only dog, ruling her own queendom, and hanging out with her human. Would suit an elderly or retired person, or low-activity family, preferably someone who can spend time with her and not leave her alone too much. She has shown herself to be good with children, too, so might make a good candidate for a family's first dog. For now, she is entertaining her foster family with her antics (like carrying her bowl and beds around to just the right spot for her!). It's always hard on the seniors, to find themselves in need of a new home after a lifetime of loyalty to their original owner, but Alice is definitely looking for someone new to give her devotion to - is that someone you?
