This happy fellow is Red.
Red has a lot to smile about! Red came to GGBR from a shelter, picked up as a stray. He had a large ulcerated mass on his shoulder, and several loose and painful teeth. He was thin, too, probably because his mouth hurt too much to eat. He moved slowly, because he was tired, depressed, and everything hurt. Within 24 hours of arriving at his GGBR foster home, Red had surgery to remove the mass, and dental cleaning and extractions to remove the painful loose teeth. Now, Red is like a new dog! He is happy, and his tail wags all the time. He's eating well and is active. No longer is his pace a slow amble; now, he can play and run! Red loves people of all ages. He gets along great with his doggie foster brothers and has learned to accept the household cats, that don't run from him. Watch the video (attached) of him, when he found one of the cats, buried in a blanket. He has a deep, low voice, like a fog horn! Red has some arthritis, so he would do best in a home without very many stairs. But, he gets around fine and is quite animated, for a 12-year-old. Watch the video (attached) of Red playing with an 18-month-old pup! Red loves being with his people. We suspect that he may have been used to sleeping in bed with his previous owners, because he tried to climb into a hammock with his foster dad, when he was trying to take a nap. In his foster home, Red sleeps contentedly in a dog bed, in the dining room. He seems very accustomed to being in the house and seems to be housebroken. If you are looking for a lovely senior dog to be your companion, Red could be the guy for you. He is happy and affectionate and loves to be wherever you are. He is easy going, friendly with people and dogs, takes treats gently and rides well in the car. If you like the senior dogs, check out Red! More about Red (Reno)Good with Dogs, Good with Kids Special Needs: Had major dental issues, large bleeding mass on his shoulder. Both issues have been treated. Mass removal and a dental with extractions were completed. To prevent further tooth/gum issues, Red will need an owner willing to brush his teeth after meals. Fortunately, Red tolerates that very well! Videos of Red (Reno):
