Learn more about the Basset Hound.
When 6 month male basset hound Jolly, came into GGBR at 8 weeks old from the shelter on January 3, he was skinny and malnourished, suffering from severe gastrointestinal distress. He had been found abandoned on the side of a roadway. He received immediate veterinary care and with medication and care, the initial intestinal issues were resolved. He since has had a sensitive tummy, developing an allergy to his food but responding well to a change in his diet. In April, he was diagnosed with pneumonia and there was some concern that he may have mild inflammatory airway disease. He was seen by an internal medicine specialist in late May and in July. While he has been given a clean bill of health, it is likely that he will always have a sensitive tummy.
