Meet 3 year old Mari, who is awaiting her forever home! She came to GGBR from a shelter following having been on the loose as a stray. Mari is a gentle, loving basset mix  who gives kisses, loves belly rubs, and cuddling with her people. At 61 pounds, she is a sturdy, solidly built houndie with a lovely soft coat. Mari is friendly out in public and gets along with other dogs, cats, adults and children. She is spayed and housetrained and currently sleeps on a bed in the living room. She stays in a crate when the foster parents are away, but she is not happy when crated. In fact, she has some separation anxiety, letting it be known that she does not want to be away from her people. Mari is calm in the car but on long rides she gets car sick.

Mari has a deformed right front leg which has been evaluated by an orthopedic surgeon. She walks well, can jump up and down from furniture, and can chase after squirrels. It has been recommended that surgery not be done to correct the deformity due to her age and possible risks of the surgery. The surgeon determined that she is not in any pain from the deformity itself. She has some arthritis in her right elbow and a determination will be made soon as to whether there is pain in that joint and if it would benefit her to be on pain medication.
