Learn more about the Basset Hound. Timid and tiny... just hoping to be your cuddly lap-basset!
Peanut, renamed Sophee Maree, is a little princess. She is rather timid and will need a home that is patient and calm with her and prepared to carry on working on gaining her trust. After many litters of pups in a commercial breeding kennel, Peanut is just learning what life for a basset hound is meant to be like!
She is housetrained, friendly once she meets you and knows you are no danger to her. She is good with cats. Learning to walk on a leash, but it still frightens her and she 'freezes'. Still, at 30lbs, she is easy to carry! Here is what her foster mom has to say about her: She is up to 30.7 lbs and looks great! I am still slowly working with her on the leash training but she still goes "flat basset". We spend about an hour a day dragging the leash around. I did take her to the park and she had a blast but I had to carry her to the car. I can see Sophee (Peanut) wanting to be a princess. She is really loving and quite the little snuggler. She doesn't mind her ears cleaned but not so happy with having her toes done. Do you have room in your home, and in your heart for Sophee?
