Nigel was placed in a family home, but proved too active and hyper for their toddler.  He's a slightly insecure pup who needs a settled, structured home to bring out the best in him.  He's been with our trainer in a residential training situation since January 24 and he's doing very well.
Due to his insecure nature we would prefer he does not go to a home with children under the age of 10 yrs old.  That may be reviewed after we've had some time to work with him, or if you are a dog-savvy, calm household who are prepared to work with him and a trainer.  He shows a little food guarding, and the trainer is working with him on that, but no other signs of aggression.
This was the first report from his trainer, after she'd had him for two weeks:
he is interacting in positive and appropriate ways with the other animals (including cats) in my home as well as some of the older children I've introduced him.

Good news also is that he looks like he's nearing the end of his teething cycle (though I haven't had any problems with him chewing on me or anything else), but that's a nice threshold to have crossed with him and likely part of some of the erratic behaviors he had in his last home.

I think at this point as long as he goes with someone who is 1) either willing to continue being very structured and disciplined with him in order to keep his stress levels down or 2) someone who doesn't mind the high energy craziness that accompanies a stressed out puppy who just doesn't know what to do with all the decisions he's making ... he should be fine, ideally for him obviously he should be with someone who is dog experienced and understands that puppies should not have full run of the house and that there are rules for young dogs, but other than that he seems to be adjusting well.
Nigel was called Cooper by his first adopters, but could easily be renamed yet again!  He is pretty much housebroken, neutered, up to date on shots, microchipped etc. etc.  Good to go to an experienced home!!
Here is his original bio:
Nigel: Black & White Male. Nigel & Crush are the 2 only stubby leg puppies of the litter. Nigel is the comedian of the bunch. Watch him play for any amount of time & you'll end up giggling like a school girl. He doesn't try to be funny, it just comes naturally.  His mom, "Lucy", a Beagle/Basset Mix was found wandering the streets very pregnant. Good samaritans attempted to take her to a local animal shelter, but were diverted to Golden Empire Basset Rescue when confronted with the shelter's 7day stay then destroy policy for ALL intakes. On Lucy's 7th day in her foster home she delivered 8 healthy puppies.(3Female/5Male). As a tribute to Lucy's Mickey Mouse shaped spot,  her Litter's theme name is " Finding Nemo". Born 8/20/10.
