Beautiful young Stella, with her (relatively) long, very straight legs, looks a bit like a Treeing Walker Coonhound.  She is incredibly affectionate and exceptionally mellow - especially for a puppy!.  She is eager to please (i.e. very trainable), intelligent and confident.  A young, energetic girl, she will make a stellar pet for someone who is active and has lots of time to spend with her.  She will easily become part of your pack - and she loves attention!

At 1-1/2 years old, she has a LOT of energy and needs more than just a daily walk.  Bred to be a working dog, she would excel at tracking, and because of her gentle nature, would likely make a great Therapy Dog. She would most assuredly benefit from having a job to do.

She thinks she is a lap dog and while she does sleep on her doggie bed on the floor at night half of the time, the other half is on the bed with us -- and right up around our heads on our pillows if she can!  She is a cuddler, and loves attention.

She can also leap tall buildings in a single bound -- a 4 foot retaining wall is an effortless hop for her!  So fencing - 5 ft at the very least - is a definite requirement.

She has a beautiful, glossy, soft coat and the prettiest face. Stella sits on command - usually.  She is incredibly docile and trusting -- lets us remove things from her mouth, play with her paws, toes, teeth and ears.  She is very good on leash, but wouldn't recommend trying to jog with her -- she is a scent hound, and a runner could well topple over when she halts to sniff the neighborhood newsbush.  Did we mention she loves attention?

Stella is housebroken, but if left alone in the house, she will get into mischief and may leave a puddle to let us know she wasn't happy that we went off without her.  She LOVES to shred toilet paper and Kleenex tissue that we so kindly leave out for her (dumb humans!).

Stella gets along very well with the two mini-dachshunds in her foster home, and runs Indy 500 laps with the dachsies almost daily.  Those races are indoors, outdoors, indoors, outdoors - tracking a fair share of water and mud all over the house.  But what an absolute ball they have - and the entertainment is worth having to do a bit of damp mopping when it is over.

Stella will need some work adapting to being out in crowds of people, but we are sure she can adapt and will be a great companion in all kinds of situations.

Do you have the home for Stella that will give her a great job to keep her busy and happy?
