This lovely lady arrived at GGBR on Halloween. She is friendly with people of all ages, good with other dogs, housebroken and pretty good with our cats, although she will occasionally chase one, if it runs. She is a good car rider, but needs a boost or a ramp to help her get into the car. She came from a home with children, and her previous owner called her a "great family dog". Roxie is definitely a counter surfer and will raid the garbage, if it is accessible.
Roxie has been diagnosed with Cushing's disease, which is over-production of cortisol by her adrenal glands. We are currently evaluating what course of treatment would be best for her, but Cushing's is a chronic condition; medication and periodic lab tests to monitor the condition are expensive. For this reason, she is available for sponsorship. Because of the Cushing's disease, Roxie is a big water drinker. However, she is well housebroken, has had no accidents in the house, and can hold her urine all night.
In spite of her Cushing's disease, Roxie is friendly, calm, gentle and a very easy dog to live with. Whether adopted, or a "forever foster", she deserves to be able to live out the rest of her life in a loving home.
