This beautiful basset/black & tan coonhound (?) mix girl came to us as a stray from the Dublin shelter, and it's hard to imagine why her owners didn't come looking for her. Dippy is incredibly sweet, and wants to be your constant companion.

Her favorite pastime is to follow her foster mom around the house and settle by her side for whatever activity is going on, whether it be repairing the broken washing machine, collecting eggs from the henhouse, or laying in bed with a good book. She loves to snuggle, but be prepared! Though she is taller and longer than most bassets, she thinks she's the size of a chihuahua. The coonhound part of her makes her very lithe and agile, and she will easily leap onto your bed and settle herself wherever she wants, even if that means planting her rear end on the face of an adjacent canine or human sleeping companion.

Dippy's second favorite pastime, thanks to her foster dad, is chasing the laser pen. She is an intense hunter when she thinks that little red dot is nearby, and will even lock on to the mouse cursor on your computer screen, or any blinking light from a cell phone, tablet, or laptop. She also loves chasing flies, or sometimes imaginary bugs that aren't really there.

Dippy is great with other dogs and kids, but will chase the cat. She likes car rides, and loves going to visit other people's homes and the dog park, but gets nervous at dog friendly stores or restaurants. She does suffer from separation anxiety, so her foster home is working on improving that when she's left home alone, and working on her anxiety when going out. Because of this she would be happiest where someone is home with her, and doesn't have to be left alone more than a couple hours per day. It would excellent if her forever home has experience with separation anxiety in dogs, or has a lot of patience and willingness to continue the work the foster home has started. The foster home is also offering to cover the cost of a consultation with a trainer, once adopted, to help make the transition easier.

All in all, this girl just wants to give you all her love, and know that you will always be there to love her in return. How can you say "no" to that?
