Oliver is a seven year old male Basset Hound that was surrendered by his former owner who had him since he was puppy!  At his foster home, Oliver has settled right in and is living up to his definition of gentle, loving, goofy, adorable and affectionate.  Oliver likes nothing more than to sit or lay by you and have your pet him.  He will also gently lay his head on your knee or foot just to be near you!  Although his former owner said he was food aggressive, the foster family has only seen him be a little snatchey with treats but not at meal times, not as gentle as Oliver in the movie when he pick pockets someone https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/You%27ve_Got_to_Pick_a_Pocket_or_Two.  He is great with cats, wanting to play with them, is house broken, uses the stairs and doggie door with ease and is perfectly happy sleeping on the floor and not jumping on furniture. 

 

He is still a little confused about why his former family gave him up and is showing a little bit of separation anxiety when left alone in the form of barking and howling when left alone, but his foster family feels this will improve when he knows he is loved in his forever home. 

 

Oliver knows his name and will readily respond when called. He is working on his lease etiquette learning how not to pull.  He seems more interested in being a loyal companion than a playmate as he has not shown any interest in playing with his four-legged foster sisters. 

 

Oliver was recently neutered and given a clean bill of health, free from any parasites including heartworm and has recently had all of his vaccinations updated.  So just like Oliver, the orphan in the  Oliver Twist movie, he is ready to be Considered Part of the [your] Family https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Consider_Yourself!
