Sammie's foster parent has this to say about this lovable basset:
"Sammie came to GGBR because her owner said she was too demanding and she just didn't have time for her. She was sleeping outside in a small dog house and didn't get in much. She came home with me and met her new foster brothers Cletus, Bud and Elvis plus my son and granddaughter....Sammie loved them, she loves everyone. Poor girl had to go straight to the Vet that Saturday afternoon after greeting her new family due to needing all her shots, heart worm test and a few stitches in her leg due to a cut that occurred that night before at her old home. She attached to me right away and my son said when I left to go to my grand son's football practice Monday she was frantic and kept going in and out of his room whining. After about a 1/2 hour he heard her howling. He came out and found her sitting on the kitchen table looking thru the kitchen window trying to find me. She has now gotten over that and takes my leaving in stride. She and Cletus have become very good play pals. The problem is Cletus barks a lot when he plays and Bud will stand back and bark at them both while they are playing. That gets a bit noisy and especially when it is at 9 or 10 at night. My boys are barkers. Sammie is not as bad as them. She will howl at times but not a lot.
She was said to not be housebroken. I have a dog door as I have three Bassets and it is just too much to have to get up to open a door every time one of them wants out. She learned how to go in and out of it after a day. It took a few more days for her to connect it with being used to go out and go potty. However she has only had three accidents in the house during the first week and it has been 10 days now that she has been accident free. She sleeps in my room next to my bed with the three boys. My Bassets are part of the family.
My little Princess, as I call her, is one of the biggest sweethearts I have ever met. She will snuggle on the couch with you, greets you with loads of wiggles and squeaks and has a tail that beats really fast most of the time. She is good with everyone from my small 6 year old granddaughter, 11 year old grand son, my adult son and to anyone else that comes over. She loves to walk and sniff and walk and sniff....and sniff. She is a Basset after all. She never is cross with the other Bassets even Elvis the grouch. I don't have a cat anymore so I can't say how she is with them. She has seen a couple on walks and was interested but not too much. She really deserves a "furever" home where she is part of the family. Where she can get and give all the love that she can. Oh and watch out when you bend over to say hi... I have gotten a nose in the mouth twice when she trys to give a kiss."
