Basset Hound : : Female (spayed)
Learn more about the Basset Hound.
Sweet little Kathy, with her crooked little nose and underbite that gives her a "pout", is about 3 years old. She is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and is heartworm negative. She is friendly with people, but not super demanding. She sometimes startles easily, but she quickly recovers. On leash in town, Kathy is a little bit timid, but we think that a few gentle walks with the occasional uneventful encounter with people, stollers and other dogs should make her look forward to putting on her leash. Kathy is a little bit shy and standoffish with new dogs, but is not quarrelsome and gets along great with the dogs in her foster home. She is starting to initiate play from them, but alas, her foster brothers are too old to be interested in such frivolities.
Kathy is housebroken and sleeps all night in a dog bed. She initially grieved the separation from her large extended canine family, but she has adjusted to life in a smaller pack and is OK being left alone with her foster brothers for several hours. Kathy barks at cats that don't run, and chases cats that do, but she is gradually getting more accustomed to the cats in her foster home and is starting to ignore them more and more. Kathy rides beautifully in the car, except that she is prone to getting car sick. Kathy's foster family does not have children, so we don't know how Kathy reacts to the wee ones.
