Spring Fling - Members Only

Picnic, hound games, socializing, dogs playing in a secure setting and beautiful Irises to look at (Fran grows them to show!). Not a member yet? UC Davis Picnic Day

Join UC Davis for a day of activities including a rescue fair and parade. Golden Gate will be staffing an information booth with several of our hounds to spread information about rescue, spay/neuter policy and the basset hound breed in general. We will be on Dutton Field. Anyone with foster hounds is strongly encouraged to bring them along to this event, for at least some of the day. The closest place to park that is free is the north entry parking structure on the 2nd floor and above, and this is only on a first come, first served basis. From either the 80 W or 80 E, get on the 113 N. After getting on the 113 N, pass the Hutchinson Exit, and exit onto the Russell Blvd Exit. Make a Right on Russell. (The parking structure is near the Memorial Union, off of Howard Way and Russell Blvd.)I will try and add to these directions during the week, once I have seen the map for the campus.

Redwood City Pet Parade

Seventh Annual Pet Parade. Vendor booths open at 11am, Parade starts at 12:30pm. Costumes are encouraged. Awards for contest winners. Check out the website. Vendor booths, food, entertainment, music, pet supplies and much more!! TShirts and pet photographs will be available. GGBR will have a booth and we'd love to see as many of our hounds, both fosters and alumni, as possible. Leashes required. Bring water.

GGBR Waddle

Join us for our annual Waddle,when we parade down the main street of Novato as part of their 4th July Parade. ALL basset hounds and their slaves are welcome. You do not need to be affiliated to GGBR in any way!! This year we have a few great surprises for you - waddle goodie bags for all registered hounds, special transport for the Hush Puppy who leads the Parade, and for the Queens of the Waddle. We follow this with a picnic, raffles, and generally fun event at the baseball field at Marion Park, at the end of the parade route. This year you will know us by the Giant Hush Puppy!! Come and Waddle with us and invite your friends and families to come and watch, then join us at the picnic field. It is our major fundraising event of the year and we need your support to continue to rescue basset hounds in northern California!!

Tenth Annual Dog Show. Local dog show, with lots of categories and classes - and none need an AKC registration!! This is one of the happiest dog shows around... they even have a 'best rescue' category! GGBR will have a rescue booth AND a microchip clinic. If your dog needs a microchip we will be offering a low cost clinic as a fundraiser for us. Once again, all our hounds, both current fosters and alumni are encouraged to join us and spread the word on the breed and the joy of Rescue! WE NEED HELP - we have two booths to run, so if you can spare an hour or two, we'd love to see you! National Homeless Pet Day

This memorial event remembers the many animals that didn't find homes by the lighting of 100 red candles. Candles may be purchased to remember a special pet, past or present, a special person or an event in your life. Candles are only $5 and all proceeds go to animal agencies. This years theme will be Mardi Gras and that means lots of fun! There will be lots of good food, the silent auction, adoptable pets, games, booths, and always lots of goodies to share or take home.

This fun event will have all sorts of dog-related activities, including vaccinations, DNA testing and microchipping. It starts at 7am with a pancake breakfast. Vendor and rescue booths open at 9am. AKC Canine Good Citizen and lots of entertainment, including a country singer headliner is on offer. At 7:30am there is a 3K dog walk (before the sun gets too hot!) to entertain you before the schedule of events takes place. GGBR will have a rescue booth on Rescue Row, thanks to a couple of local volunteers! Please support them by attending with your bassets. There are also Canine Cool Down stations to keep your dogs comfortable all day. Dr. Bikram Basra and the Rocklin Park Veterinary Hospital, with their corporate partner, Hill's Science Diet, will be the Title Sponsors of this year's event. In addition, the day will feature many fun events, like: 3K Grateful Dog Walk, Pancake Breakfast, Costume Contest, Weiner Dog Races, Canine Extreme Doggie Makeover, Are you Smarter than A Veterinarian?, Art and Photo contest, Canine Cool Down Station, great demos and activities and super vendors. We hope to see you there!

The biggest gathering of dog vendors, rescues, services, entertainment in the South Bay. Set in a beautiful park, this event is attended by thousands of dog lovers from throughout the Bay Area. GGBR will have a booth, showcasing the rescue, spay and neuter of Basset Hounds and spreading awareness and information about the breed. We hope to be able to sell merchandise, tshirts and other promotional items and will have materials and application forms for adoption and membership, fostering etc. Please bring your hounds, fosters and alumni to join us and have fun at the same time!

Mini Camping Weekend

We are going to Big Basin the first weekend in June. Join Cindy and Addy and a few other basset hound families at this peaceful retreat location in the Redwoods of the Santa Cruz mountains. Cindy and Addy will be there in advance of the main party and we can try to group any camping sites reserved by supporters so we are all on the same campsite. Individuals will be responsible for making their own reservations and more information will follow in our newsletters and mailings. Sign up on the website now to make sure you don't miss out! Fran and Mark also have space for RV and tent camping if anyone wants to stay over, and a limited amount of floor space in the house and on the wrap around deck, for air beds and sleeping bags! This is a members only event, just for fun. The Maddens, Fran and Dr Mark, open their home in Mt Aukum to us for a wonderful Spring Picnic. We play basset games and enjoy the beautiful blooming Irises that Fran grows. It's a super cool place to hang out for the day. Fran and Mark also have space for RV and tent camping if anyone wants to stay over, and a limited amount of floor space in the house and on the wrap around deck, for air beds and sleeping bags! We get around 100 bassets every year walking down Grant Ave in Novato as part of their annual 4th of July Parade. Afterwards, join us for our picnic at the Marion Park Baseball Field (at the end of the Parade Route). This year we have even more attractions and amenities for you as we work to make this the finest Waddle event on the west coast!
