This 9 year old spayed female basset hound is sweet and cuddly. She is mixed breed with a very basset hound-like body and legs. Her DNA profile is available upon request. She weighs 42 pounds. Scarlett is housebroken and uses a doggie door with no problem. She adapted very easily to her foster home.

Scarlett is an incredibly sweet and super cute girl who loves people and toys. She is good with other dogs, but much prefers to cuddle up with her human on the couch, or bed. She does seem to get a little overwhelmed by a lot of commotion. She loves to carry a toy around in her mouth. She can be a little mouthy when she gets excited, but she’s very gentle. It’s a security thing for her; she just likes having something in her mouth. She loves her treats and is very food motivated.

Scarlett is very spry and a great jumper for her age. She has gone to work with her foster mom and does beautifully. She is friendly and curious with everyone, but also well behaved, although she doesn’t seem to know any basic commands. She does well in the car, both in and out of a crate.

Scarlett walks well on a leash, but she can pull when excited. However, she has demonstrated that she will bolt and run away, if she is feeling scared, or anxious, so she should never be off leash in public, and a fenced yard is a must! She does like to bark at other dogs through the fence, but does not appear to have any separation anxiety and does well when left alone.

Scarlett would do best as an only dog, or in a household with just one other dog. She gets very attached to people, so if you’re looking for a wonderful companion to spend a lot of time with, Scarlett would shower you with love! Her foster mom is working on testing Scarlett with cats and kids, so more information may be coming!
