Otis

When Otis came home in August he fit right in. He loves to eat, is very nosey (curious) and if you aren't careful, he will steal your snacks. Besides food, his favorite things are walks and rubbing his face all over you. (But be sure to check his ears to make sure they are clean before he gets to close.) He loved his dog sister and was right beside her when she passed in January. I am so lucky to have him. Eeyore (Turlock)

We rescued our boy, Hank (formerly know as Eeyore) on Memorial Day 2024. This spry happy boy took some time to adjust to his surroundings. When we brought him home, he sniffed every inch of his new palace, almost as if he was memorizing his new world. His big floppy ears dragged along the floor, his nose sniffing the corners of the walls, the underside of the pillows, and barrelling through the rugs, dog toys, laundry and blankets with every sniff. When this big-earred wide-eyed droopy face dog finally decided that we smelled like "home," he perked up, looked at my husband and I, and then proceeded to jump up, lick our faces, nibbled on our hands and ran around like a maniac with his new sister. He likes to pounce on what he wants like a panther stalking his prey - except the 'prey' is often my husband's socks that were left on the floor. Hank, our penny-colored Basset, likes to barrel into me when I get home from work, so excited to see me. He licks my hands, happy to have me home, and then in his woof-woof way, tells me all about his day and how many squirrels he chased, how many socks he hid and how much he missed me. This handsome boy is more than a dog; he was the missing piece of my heart. He is loving, charming, curious, loves his sister, gives the best snuggles, cuddles, and loves socks. He plays easily with other dogs, and he was the best decision I ever made; even my husband agrees that he was a better choice than saying "yes" to him :) Thank you GGBR for letting me take this sweet boy home and making him a part of our lives and home. Remington

We received Ziggy (formerly known as Remington) on January 20th, 2024, the day before my husband's birthday. We had taken about a six year hiatus from owning a Basset hound (a puppy for that matter) and were so excited to have another basset in the family; our son's first basset. We all fell instantly in love with Ziggy. This was our first time 'fostering to adopt' but our Vet and GGBR made it simple. Ziggy had been with two other families just in his short couple months on earth so we welcomed the opportunity to be his foster parents knowing we would 99.9% end up adopting him. Due to some possible joint issues, Ziggy's neuter was pushed off until his 1st birthday so we stayed his 'foster' parents for quite some time. The whole foster process was seamless due to GGBR's wonderful staff with great communication and quick response times. Ziggy is a happy, loving, spoiled cuddle bug and gets along with our whole family, including the cat. He has a joyful and typical basset stubborn temperament. Charlie (Sacramento)

We had the privilege of welcoming Charlie and Millie into our home in June of 2024 and have been so grateful for the joy they have given us. Charlie and Millie have brought their own personalities with them and now have settled into their routines of feeding and dozing (two of the things that Bassets most like to do) and walks around the neighborhood! The most important thing for us is that they have provided seamless companionship with the biggest personality in our home Jack (a 2-year-old Basset) who at times is envious of the new-comers but most of the time runs and plays and wrestles with Charlie and Millie. Along with the companionship they provide Jack, both Charlie and Millie are extremely loving additions to our family and provide me, my husband, and 16-year-old daughter a lot of pleasure and entertainment (!) and we feel that they now really feel this is their forever home.
